Mission Creek Field Notes September 8- December 31, 2009
September 9, 2009 (9/9/9):
8:15am- Saw a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers just as I left the North-South path and headed West. Then another one flew over the path through the meadow to Lybarger. Same one or a third Pileated woodpecker? Also saw a bluebird not a Stellar's Jay @ Lybarger.
September 24, 2009:
A big thank you to whomever fisxed the swing yesterday and a pox on the hoodlums who have been vandalizing it. Also the useless individual who found it necessary to break this pencil, Bah!
September 27, 2009:
I pulled 2 tansy ragwort plants blooming in the open field.
September 29, 2009:
Saw a doe and her triplett fawns @ San Francisco entrance (to the North). I understand this family frequents yards on Wilson and 12th and eastwards.
October 12, 2009:
Keep seeing Native blackberry but w/ huge (Himalayan) size berries. All the Native BB I've seen before had a really small berries- Do you think the native & Himalayan are hybridizing? These berries have an awesome wilder flavor.
October 17th 2009:
Pineapple Express! With high winds. A melodic swooshing of the wind in the trees. All the big trees seem HUGE. No People, Warm 61° F. Colors. What a cool park. -Ty
Beautiful birds nest to the north at the llama farm entrance.
October 27, 2009:
Lots of crows about today. I also saw a tiny green black & yellow snake on the north side of the park
November 2, 2009:
Saw a large owl with haunting black eyes. We regarded each other for some time before he flew off. Obviously assessing a threat, not a meal. Also a furry black and orange catepiller. -Raeychelle
December 2, 2009:
Walking along in love. It was easy to feel out warmth in the warmth of this very special and comforting forest/glade/wilderness and on…
And the sun is shining so brightly-everything is beautiful
